About Us

Hello. My name is Sharon Crouch, and I own Monte Paso Fino in Dunnellon, Florida.

I first became involved with Paso Finos in 1994, when I visited a farm owned by Bill Stevens in Seffner, Florida. I purchased a three month old weanling colt named El Cid. I had not even riden a Paso Fino at that time, but fell in love with the grace and beauty they demonstrated.

Over then next few months, I fell deeper in love with little Cid and the Paso Fino breed. I returned to Bill's farm to purchase another Paso Fino, a nine-month old pinto named Bravo. When Bravo was two and one-half, I started his training. I was surprised by how easy his training went and how quickly he progressed. I simply put a saddle and bridal on him and walked him around my little corral. After a few days, I mounted him and he was immediately sensitive to my cues. Within one month, Bravo and I were trail riding with various groups in the area.

A few months later, El Cid reached two and one-half. I made the decision to send him to Fantasy Paso Finos to be professionally trained by Jose Ortiz. Here I met Barbara Parish, the owner of Fantasy Paso Finos and we became close friends. Barbara introduced me to my next Paso Fino, a mare named Olympiada de Fantasy. I purchased Olympiada with breeding rights to JLM's Jaranero included. Almost a year later, I purchased yet another mare from Barbara, Cenicienta de Fantasy who is a daughter of Manuello del Conde.

When Olympiada de Fantasy turned four, I decided to make my first attempt at breeding Paso Finos and exercised my rights to Jananero. The good Lord blessed me with a fino filly I named Monte Vali.

I was ecstatic! I now had three mares having the bloodlines of four of the greatest, most revered stallions in Paso Fino history coursing through their veins, Contrapunto, Plebeyo, Capuccino and Terromotto.

When I moved to Dunnellon Florida, I met Jose Torres. A kind, gentle man who had his own Paso Fino mare, Navidana del Juncal and shared my dream to breed the girls to the finest bloodlines in an effort to improve the breed. Jose's Navidana Del Junca was the perfect addition to our stable, as she may perhaps be the only horse in the world to have the two great stallions, Terremoto de Manizales and Contrapunto, in her bloodlines. Many horses may have one or the other...but not both.

Today, I am very pleased to say, that yet another champion bloodline is being brought into our stable, that of Bochica. We eagerly await the offspring of Olympiada de Fantasy and Monte Vali, who were bred to Petrolero del Juncal. Olympiada's new foal is expected sometime around May 8, 2007 and Monte Vali's sometime next year.
